Beginning with his earliest academic studies, the exhibition continues through the innovative and experimental Nabis paintings of the 1890s for which the artist is best known; his provocative, complex interiors; and his work associated with the avant-garde theatre. It also includes Vuillard's splendid but lesser known large-scale decorations, his luminous landscapes, and the elegant portraits from the last decades of his career, as well as a substantial selection of drawings, graphics, and photographs.
